Explore Pompeii and Vesuvius on a private day trip from Rome, with guided visits, lunch, wine tasting, and buffalo mozzarella.

About this tour

Leave Rome for a full-day journey through ancient history and volcanic scenery. This private Rome Pompeii and Vesuvius tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off in a licensed, air-conditioned vehicle with a professional English-speaking driver.

At Pompeii, skip-the-line entry and a dedicated licensed local guide help bring the archaeological site to life. Continue to Mount Vesuvius, where a local guide accompanies your crater visit. Vehicles reach about 1,000 meters; from there, the trail climbs just under 200 meters to the top. If weather prevents the walk, take in the panoramic view from the drop-off point.

The day also features lunch and wine tasting on the volcano’s slope, plus a buffalo mozzarella tasting. Wine is served to guests aged 18 and older; younger guests receive soft drinks. Pack water, sunscreen, and suitable footwear for the uphill trail. How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
