Explore Pompeii with a local guide, then visit Vesuvius for crater views, lunch, wine tasting, and buffalo mozzarella on a private day trip from Rome.

About this tour

Leave Rome behind for a full-day private journey to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, pairing ancient history with volcanic scenery and regional flavors. Your driver collects you from your hotel in a licensed, air-conditioned vehicle and takes you to Pompeii, where skip-the-line entry and a dedicated licensed local guide help bring the archaeological site to life. Continue to the slopes of Vesuvius for lunch and wine tasting, with buffalo mozzarella to sample along the way. At the volcano, a small-group local expert guide accompanies the crater visit. Vehicles reach about 1,000 meters, followed by an uphill trail of just under 200 meters to the top. If weather closes the trail, you can still enjoy panoramic views from the drop-off point; no refund is due. With transport, tickets, meals, and guides arranged, this Rome Pompeii and Vesuvius tour makes it easy to experience two remarkable destinations in one day. Book your private outing and spend the day moving from Pompeii’s ruins to the dramatic slopes of Vesuvius.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
