Explore Rome’s squares, fountains, and ancient sights on a private Civitavecchia shore tour with an English-speaking driver.

About this tour

See Rome at your own pace on a private shore excursion designed for cruise passengers. Your English-speaking professional driver meets you on the pier beside your ship in Civitavecchia at 8:00 AM, then takes you into the city in a comfortable, air-conditioned Mercedes-Benz vehicle.

Spend the day taking in Rome’s postcard-worthy squares, elaborate fountains, and imposing ancient monuments while avoiding the need to follow a fixed group itinerary. The tour also offers a chance to explore an underground site beneath one of Rome’s distinctive churches, including a visit to an opulent Roman noble residence dating to the 3rd century AD. Admission fees and entry tickets are not included, so plan for those separately.

With private transportation, bottled water, fuel, and parking included, this Rome Port Tour gives you flexibility to shape your sightseeing day. Return to your ship at approximately 5:00 PM after a full day in the Eternal City.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
