Descend into the Colosseum Underground, explore the Roman Forum and hear ancient stories on a private, 3-hour guided tour of Rome.

About this tour

Step beneath the Colosseum and imagine the gladiators, prisoners and wild animals who once waited in its underground chambers. On this 3-hour private Rome Colosseum tour, a licensed guide brings the ancient amphitheater to life, from its hidden spaces to the galleries where as many as 80,000 spectators watched the games.

Continue to the Roman Forum, once the beating heart of the city. Walk along the Via Sacra and take in the remains of temples and ancient palaces as your guide shares the stories behind the ruins. Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill admission is included; the Palatine Hill visit and drop-off service are available with the Luxury Version. Centrally located hotel pickup within the Aurelian Walls is provided.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.92 from 115 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.3. Top 10% in Rome means it ranks in the top 10% of tours in Rome by this score.
