Travel from Rome to Assisi in a private Mercedes, with hotel pickup and an English-speaking driver for an 8-hour day trip.

About this tour

Leave Rome behind for a private journey through the rolling hills of Umbria to Assisi, a historic hilltop town known as the birthplace of St. Francis. This 8-hour trip pairs the comfort of a private Mercedes with the freedom to explore one of Italy’s most treasured towns at your own pace.

Your English-speaking driver collects you from your hotel and takes you on the scenic drive to Assisi. The vehicle remains at your disposal for the day, giving you time to discover the town’s history, art, and spiritual heritage. Please note that your driver is not a licensed guide. Italian regulations allow drivers to explain attractions only from inside the vehicle, not while walking around them. A licensed guide is not included, and food, drinks, lunch, and gratuities are also excluded.

With hotel pickup and drop-off arranged, you can focus on the journey and the character of Assisi. Choose this Rome private day trip to Assisi for a comfortable way to experience Umbria beyond the capital.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
