Explore Rome with a private guide, ship-to-city transportation, and preferential-access tickets on this full-day shore excursion.

About this tour

Trade the cruise terminal for a day among Rome’s storied streets, with private transportation from your ship and an expert English-speaking guide to lead the way. This 420-minute Rome private shore excursion gives you a personal way to explore the city, with preferential-access tickets to all sites included in the tour.

Your driver meets you as you disembark and brings you into Rome, where you join your guide. Move between sites by private transport, then explore on foot through areas with steps and uneven walkways. Headsets are provided for groups of six or more. If a weekend Pantheon reservation is unavailable or the line is too long, your guide will explain the monument from outside so the rest of the tour can stay on track. At day’s end, private transportation returns you to your cruise ship.

Bring an ID matching your booking name for Colosseum and Roman Forum entry, and share your ship’s arrival and departure times in advance. Make the most of your time ashore with a Rome private shore excursion tailored to your group.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.80 from 10 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1.
