See the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and more on a 7-hour Rome shore excursion with port pickup and a guaranteed timely return to your ship.

About this tour

Make the most of your time ashore with a Rome shore excursion from Civitavecchia, where ancient monuments and lively piazzas fill a memorable day. Travel in a comfortable vehicle with a safe driver, then explore the city’s celebrated sights with a certified English-speaking guide, or choose the self-guided option.

See the Colosseum, admire the Pantheon and St. Peter’s Basilica, and pause at the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona. You’ll also have free time in Rome’s bustling center. The 7-hour outing includes port pickup and drop-off, with a guaranteed timely return to your ship. Choose private or semi-private pier pickup, or a standard group or self-guided departure from Largo della Pace cruise terminal. The itinerary may change with traffic, crowds, or other circumstances, and the limited port-call schedule does not allow time for interior visits.

A Rome shore excursion is a rewarding way to take in the city’s iconic landmarks during a cruise stop. Check your pickup details by email at least 12 hours ahead, then set out for a day among Rome’s enduring treasures.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.58 from 24 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.5.
