Explore Trastevere, Santa Cecilia’s underground crypt, Tiber Island, and Rome’s Jewish district with a local guide in a small group.

About this tour

Step beyond Rome’s famous landmarks and into the layered stories of Trastevere and the Jewish district. On this Rome Trastevere and Jewish Ghetto walking tour, a local guide leads a small group of no more than 12 through atmospheric lanes, quiet churches, and places where history hides in plain sight.

Pause inside a church to see a Bernini statue, then visit the underground crypt and ancient ruins of Santa Cecilia, five meters below street level. The route continues across Tiber Island into the Jewish district, where urban legends and local details bring the neighborhood’s past to life. Along the way, discover Rome’s “lasagna” of history, with one era layered over another. Crypt entry tickets are included, and the relaxed pace leaves room to take in the surroundings and ask questions.

Meet by San Francesco a Ripa, where your guide will be waiting with a company sign. Choose this Rome Trastevere and Jewish Ghetto walking tour for a more intimate look at the city’s everyday corners and hidden history.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.99 from 167 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 9.2. Top 2% in Rome means it ranks in the top 2% of tours in Rome by this score.
