Explore Rome’s Colosseum, historic piazzas, and Vatican treasures on a six-hour private tour with an expert guide.

About this tour

Spend six hours discovering Rome’s ancient landmarks and Vatican treasures with a private guide. This Rome Vatican and Colosseum tour brings the city’s history into focus, from the arena where gladiators fought to the art and architecture of the Vatican Museums.

Visit the Colosseum, including its interior, and explore the Roman Forum. Along the way, see Il Vittoriano and Piazza Venezia before continuing to the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. The tour also takes you into Vatican City, where you can admire the Sistine Chapel. Admission tickets are included, with skip-the-line tickets for the Vatican and Sistine Chapel.

Vatican areas can close at short notice, so access to the Sistine Chapel or other sites is not guaranteed; your guide will arrange an alternative inside the Vatican Museums if needed. St. Peter’s Basilica is not included. Bring identification matching your booking details, then set out to experience Rome’s celebrated sights with a knowledgeable private guide.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 8 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.5. Top 22% in Rome means it ranks in the top 22% of tours in Rome by this score.
