Explore the Vatican Museums, Raphael Rooms, and Sistine Chapel on a guided Rome tour filled with landmark art and history.

About this tour

Step into centuries of art and history on a Rome Vatican guided tour, where celebrated masterpieces fill grand galleries and Michelangelo’s frescoes crown the experience. With an expert guide leading the way, explore the Vatican Museums and discover the stories behind the papal collections.

Walk through the Gallery of the Candelabra, Gallery of Maps, Gallery of Tapestries, and the Courtyard of the Pinecone. Visit the Raphael Rooms and see Roman portrait busts in the Chiaramonti Museum, then admire the Sistine Chapel’s remarkable ceiling and frescoes. Headsets help you follow the guide as you move through the collections. The tour is listed as three hours and includes skip-the-line access.

St. Peter’s Basilica may close on religious holidays or without notice. If it is unavailable, the guide will adapt the visit to the Vatican sites open that day. Dress modestly, arrive 25 minutes early at the Tours About office, and get ready to experience the Vatican’s art and history up close.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.71 from 59 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 4.9.
