Skip the long lines on a guided Vatican visit, exploring the museums, Raphael’s Rooms, and the Sistine Chapel when accessible.

About this tour

Skip the long lines and spend three hours exploring the Vatican’s remarkable art and history with a knowledgeable guide. This Rome Vatican Highlights Guided Tour takes you through the Vatican Museums, where ancient Greek and Roman statues, Raphael’s Rooms, and the Galleries of Tapestries and Maps reveal centuries of artistic ambition.

The visit also includes the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica when they are accessible. Vatican sites can close at short notice, including during major events or the Jubilee. If a closure affects the planned route, your guide will offer an alternative focused on the Vatican Museums; during the Jubilee, you may be able to visit the basilica afterward by joining the queue. Skip-the-line access helps you spend more of your time among the collections, while an art historian guide brings context to the works around you.

Meet your guide at the Vatican Museums’ main monumental white entrance door, where they will hold a sign with your name. Dress modestly, with knees and shoulders covered. Choose this Rome Vatican Highlights Guided Tour for a focused introduction to some of the city’s most celebrated sights.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.96 from 25 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.9. Top 14% in Rome means it ranks in the top 14% of tours in Rome by this score.
