Skip the lines on a five-hour private Vatican visit, exploring the museums, Sistine Chapel, dome, Pinacoteca, and more with a guide.

About this tour

Skip the queues and spend five hours exploring the Vatican’s celebrated collections with a private guide. This Rome Vatican Museums and Dome Tour begins at the museum entrance, where your guide meets you beneath the white gate topped with statues of Michelangelo and Raphael.

Inside, discover the Gallery of Maps, the Gallery of Tapestries, and the Pinecone Courtyard, along with works by Raphael and Michelangelo collected by popes over the centuries. The visit also reaches beyond the usual highlights, with the dome, the Pinacoteca, and more. When you’re ready for a break, you can stop at the Vatican Museums restaurant; lunch is not included. Your skip-the-line ticket helps you spend more of your visit among the art and architecture rather than waiting outside.

Choose this Rome Vatican Museums and Dome Tour for a deeper look at the collections and spaces that a standard visit may leave out. Meet your guide at the entrance and make the most of your time at the Vatican.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
