About this tour

Make your Vatican visit easier with hosted entry assistance and a choice of independent exploration or a guided small-group experience. This Rome Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour begins at Viale Giulio Cesare, 229, where staff help you prepare for entry before you head inside.

Choose the PopGuide audio option to explore at your own pace, with commentary in seven languages. Visit the Gallery of Maps and Raphael Rooms, then take in Michelangelo’s celebrated Sistine Chapel ceiling. For a more personal perspective, upgrade to a licensed Vatican guide in a group of no more than 18 travelers. Your guide shares context on the galleries and masterpieces as you make your way toward the chapel.

All visitors must pass through security screening, and a short wait for final entry permission may occur. The Rome Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour includes entry to both sites, but does not include access to St. Peter’s Basilica. Choose the format that suits your visit and discover the Vatican’s art and architecture at your own pace.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.67 from 110 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 4.2.
