Explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with an expert guide, skip-the-line access, and a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica when available.

About this tour

Step into the Vatican’s remarkable collection and encounter Michelangelo’s masterpieces on a guided Rome Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel Tour. With skip-the-line access to the museums and Sistine Chapel, you can spend more time taking in the art and less time waiting. An expert art historian leads the two-hour visit, while audio headsets help you follow every detail.

Explore the Vatican Museums, then stand beneath the Sistine Chapel’s celebrated frescoes, including the Creation of Adam. The tour also includes a guided visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, except on Wednesday mornings and with the Express option; access depends on the basilica being open that day. Groups are limited to 20 people, and a leaflet is provided for visits to the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.

Arrive at Via Candia 46A 15 to 20 minutes before departure to collect your tickets, and remember to cover your shoulders and knees. Book your Rome Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel Tour for a focused introduction to some of the city’s most extraordinary art and architecture.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.71 from 7 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.7.
