Enter the Vatican Museums in the first time slot, explore the Sistine Chapel with an expert guide, and beat the biggest crowds in Rome.

About this tour

See the Vatican before the day’s crowds build on this early-entry Rome Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour. Meet your guide at the museum entrance, beneath the statues of Michelangelo and Raphael, then head inside for a guided visit led by an art historian or archaeologist. First-time-slot access is designed to help you avoid the busiest crowds, while included ticket fees mean no extra admission charge is listed for the tour.

Explore the Vatican Museums and take in the Sistine Chapel with context from your guide. A brochure is included, and groups of six or more receive headsets. The tour also offers access to St. Peter’s Basilica from the Sistine Chapel when the basilica is open; if a liturgical ceremony closes it, your museum visit will be extended instead. The experience lasts 150 minutes and is conducted in English.

Choose this Rome Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour for an early start and expert insight into two of the Vatican’s best-known sights. Bring ID that matches your booking and dress with covered knees and shoulders. Reserve your place and make the most of your time in Rome.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 8 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.5. Top 22% in Rome means it ranks in the top 22% of tours in Rome by this score.
