Explore the Vatican Museums with a licensed guide, skip-the-line entry, and a visit to Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescoes.

About this tour

Discover the Vatican’s artistic treasures on a guided visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. This three-hour Rome Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour pairs skip-the-line museum entry with insights from a Vatican-licensed guide, helping you focus on the art and stories rather than the entrance queue.

Explore the collections with your small group, then enter the Sistine Chapel to see Michelangelo’s celebrated frescoes, including The Last Judgment. Headsets help you follow the guide along the way. The chapel’s painted scenes and the Vatican’s remarkable artistic heritage make this a memorable stop, whether you come for the history, the art, or both. The listed live guide language is German; German tours are offered on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 1:00 pm.

Plan to arrive at the meeting point 15 to 30 minutes early, as late arrivals may miss the tour and tickets cannot be refunded or rescheduled. Dress with covered knees and shoulders for the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, and allow time for mandatory security screening. Book your Rome Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour to experience these landmark works with a knowledgeable guide.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.00 from 2 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.9.
