Explore the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica early with a private guide, admission tickets, and hotel transportation.

About this tour

See the Vatican Museums in the quiet of early morning, before the galleries fill with the day’s crowds. On this private 4-hour Rome Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica tour, a licensed guide leads you through the museum complex and its richly decorated halls, with audio headsets to make every explanation easy to hear. Early admission tickets and hotel transportation are included, helping you start the visit with less waiting and a smoother arrival.

The tour also visits St. Peter's Basilica, where crowds are typically lighter early in the day. Because the Basilica can close unexpectedly for strikes, union meetings, or other last-minute changes, access is not guaranteed. If it closes, your guide will explain the Basilica from St. Peter's Square and spend the remaining time exploring the Vatican Museums. The operator does not offer refunds for these closures.

Choose this Rome Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica tour for a more personal way to experience two of the city's most celebrated sights. Dress with covered knees and shoulders, then enjoy the Vatican at a calmer pace with your own guide.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.60 from 53 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.2.
