Explore the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica on a 150-minute private tour with skip-the-line entry and an expert guide.

About this tour

Explore Rome’s Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica with a private guide and pre-reserved, skip-the-line entry. This 150-minute Rome Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s tour brings centuries of art and history into focus, with time to appreciate the collections at a guided pace.

Follow your guide through the Vatican Museums, including the Raphael Rooms and the Gallery of Maps, then enter the Sistine Chapel to see its famous frescoes. Guides cannot speak inside the chapel, so your guide will share context before you enter and accompany the group silently. The visit continues into St. Peter’s Basilica, where you can explore its remarkable interior with your guide. Headsets are provided for groups of six or more.

Restoration work on Michelangelo’s The Last Judgment is scheduled from January to March 2026. The chapel will remain open, though scaffolding may partly or fully obstruct the altar wall. Arrive at the meeting office on Via Germanico 52 at least 15 minutes early, and dress with covered shoulders and knees. How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.29 from 7 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.7.
