Explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with a private guide, skip-the-line entry, and a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica when open.

About this tour

Step into the Vatican’s remarkable collection with a private guide who brings its art and history into focus. This 3-hour Rome Vatican Museums private tour includes skip-the-line entry and visits to the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and, when open, St. Peter’s Basilica.

Follow your guide through the vast museum complex, taking in its celebrated rooms and artworks before entering the Sistine Chapel. The private format offers a more intimate way to explore, while priority access helps you make the most of your visit. St. Peter’s Basilica can be unavailable on Wednesday mornings during the Papal Audience or may close without notice; if so, the tour spends the full three hours in the museums and Sistine Chapel.

Meet at Viale Vaticano 100, upstairs at the corner by Caffè Vaticano, and arrive a few minutes early. Bring a valid passport or ID matching the name provided for every traveler, and dress with knees and shoulders covered. Book your Rome Vatican Museums private tour for a focused introduction to some of the city’s most renowned sights.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
