Step beyond the crowds and discover Rome’s Vatican treasures on a private Vatican Museums tour that reaches from celebrated galleries to the mysterious Scavi underground. A licensed guide leads you through the museum collections and into the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s frescoes fill the ceiling and walls with color and movement. The experience also includes access to St. Peter’s Basilica and a Scavi visit in a small group led by a Vatican guide.

This 270-minute walking tour pairs the intimacy of a private visit with the rare opportunity to explore the Vatican’s underground. Hotel pickup is available from centrally located hotels within the Aurelian Walls. Expect a moderate amount of walking, and wear comfortable shoes. For entry to places of worship and selected museums, knees and shoulders must be covered. The Scavi’s temperature and humidity may affect visitors with certain physical concerns, including claustrophobia, and St. Peter’s Basilica can close without notice for ceremonies or Mass.
