Explore the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica on a private Rome tour with skip-the-line tickets and a guide.

About this tour

Explore Rome’s Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica on a private guided tour that brings the Vatican’s celebrated art into focus. Skip-the-line tickets help you spend your time discovering the collections rather than waiting at the entrance.

Your guide leads you through the museum’s most important areas before you reach the Sistine Chapel. Look up at Michelangelo’s ceiling and take in his dramatic Last Judgment. The visit continues to St. Peter’s Basilica, where you can see Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s Baldachin. After the guided portion, you may stay longer inside the basilica.

Tours starting at 14:30 or later visit the Raphael Rooms instead of St. Peter’s Basilica. The basilica can also close at short notice for private services. Meet your guide at Viale Vaticano 100, near Caffè Vaticano, and remember to cover your shoulders and knees. Choose this Rome Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and Basilica private tour for an art-filled visit with a knowledgeable guide.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.60 from 10 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.8.
