Ride through the Vatican Gardens, explore the museums and Sistine Chapel, then visit St. Peter’s Basilica on a private guided tour.

About this tour

See the Vatican’s gardens, galleries, and basilica in one carefully planned visit. This private Rome Vatican Museums tour begins with an open-top bus ride through the Vatican Gardens, accompanied by an audio guide. Then explore the Vatican Museums on foot with a dedicated English-speaking guide, taking in the Gallery of Maps and Raphael Rooms before entering the Sistine Chapel. Skip-the-line tickets are included for the museums and St. Peter’s Basilica, where the tour continues when the connecting passage is open. The passage is closed on Wednesdays and may close unexpectedly during special celebrations; in that case, the museum visit becomes more in-depth. The 270-minute experience involves walking at a moderate pace, so it is not suitable for guests with mobility impairments, wheelchairs, or strollers. Arrive 15 minutes early with valid ID, and dress with shoulders and knees covered. Choose this Rome Vatican Museums tour for a guided route through some of the Vatican’s most celebrated sights, with garden transport and key tickets arranged in advance.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
