Skip the long lines and explore Vatican museums, the Sistine Chapel, and more with a professional guide on this six-hour tour.

About this tour

Explore the Vatican’s celebrated art and architecture on a Vatican City full-day tour with a private guide. Pre-booked tickets help you skip the long lines, so you can spend more time among the masterpieces and less time waiting.

Meet your guide at the Vatican Museums entrance, beneath the large white gate with statues. Inside, discover ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, Raphael’s Rooms, and the Galleries of Tapestries and Maps. Continue to the Sistine Chapel, then see St. Peter’s Basilica and Square, subject to access rules. A cloakroom and comfort break are available before the tour begins. Your professional guide brings context to the collections and landmarks throughout this six-hour visit.

Dress appropriately for places of worship and selected museums: knees and shoulders must be covered. Jubilee access rules may prevent entry to the basilica during the tour; if so, you can visit afterward by queuing at St. Peter’s Square. Choose this Vatican City full-day tour with a private guide for a guided introduction to the Vatican’s most admired sights.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
