Explore the Vatican Museums with an art historian, skip the long lines, and visit iconic landmarks on this private six-hour guided tour.

About this tour

Discover the Vatican’s celebrated art and architecture on a six-hour Vatican City guided tour. With a professional art historian leading your private visit, explore the Vatican Museums’ galleries, where an expert can bring famous works and lesser-known treasures into focus. Guaranteed skip-the-line access helps you spend more time inside and less time waiting.

The planned route includes the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, and St. Peter’s Square. The chapel or basilica may close without notice for Vatican events; if that happens, your guide will provide an alternative visit focused on the museums. The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel are closed on Sundays and certain holidays, so check the schedule before you go. Hotel pickup is available from selected hotels, and the meeting point is at the stairs in front of the Vatican Museums, by the gate topped with statues. Dress modestly, covering knees and shoulders, to meet entry requirements. Choose this Vatican City guided tour for an in-depth look at the art and landmarks that make the Vatican unforgettable.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
