Explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with a private art historian, skip-the-line entry, and insights into Michelangelo’s masterpieces.

About this tour

Explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel on a private tour led by an expert art historian. With skip-the-line entry, you can spend less time waiting and more time taking in one of the world’s great art collections.

As you move through the museums, your guide shares context on the works and their place in art history. Then step into the Sistine Chapel to admire Michelangelo’s celebrated frescoes, including the Creation of Adam. Audio headsets help you follow the commentary throughout the visit. Depending on the option selected and the day’s access, the experience may also include a guided visit to St. Peter’s Basilica; the basilica visit is not available on Wednesday mornings or with the Express option, and access depends on whether it is open.

Choose this Vatican City Museums and Sistine Chapel Private Tour for a more personal way to encounter Renaissance masterpieces. Meet your guide 15 minutes before entry, dress with shoulders and knees covered, and get ready to see these remarkable spaces with fresh perspective.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
