Explore Vatican galleries and the Sistine Chapel with a live guide, then enter St. Peter’s Basilica to discover it independently.

About this tour

Explore centuries of art and history on a Vatican City Museums and Sistine Chapel tour, with access to St. Peter’s Basilica. Skip the ticket lines and follow a live guide through galleries filled with Renaissance masterpieces and works collected by the Popes. Radio headsets help you hear the stories behind the art as you move through the museums.

Before entering the Sistine Chapel, your guide introduces its symbolism, techniques, and historical significance, giving you context for the celebrated artwork inside. After the chapel, take an internal Vatican passage to St. Peter’s Basilica. There, you can explore independently and take in the architecture, sculptures, and sacred atmosphere; a guided visit inside the basilica is not included. The experience lasts 150 minutes, and mobile tickets are available. Meet your guide on the stairs, and remember that shoulders and knees must be covered for entry to the chapel and basilica.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
