Explore Vatican galleries, Raphael’s Rooms, and the Laocoön with an art historian guide on a six-hour private tour with pickup.

About this tour

Explore the Vatican’s celebrated galleries and lesser-known treasures on this six-hour private tour, with pickup from your accommodation and a professional art historian guide. Guaranteed skip-the-line access helps you spend less time waiting and more time among the art.

Walk through the Gallery of Tapestries, the Gallery of Maps, and the Gallery of Candelabra, where you can admire the famous Laocoön and His Sons sculpture. Continue to Raphael’s Rooms and discover artworks and details that many visitors miss. Your guide brings the collections to life as you move through the Vatican Museums.

Vatican access can change at short notice during papal events. If areas close, your guide will provide an alternative focused on the museums. During the Jubilee, the Basilica may not be accessible on the tour; you can try to visit afterward, subject to queuing. Dress modestly, with knees and shoulders covered, to meet entry requirements. Choose this Vatican City private tour for a deeper look at the collections with an expert guide.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 2 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.2. Top 40% in Rome means it ranks in the top 40% of tours in Rome by this score.
