Skip the ticket lines on a private Vatican Museums tour, then explore the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica with an expert guide.

About this tour

Explore Vatican City on a private Vatican Museums tour with pre-reserved entry and an expert guide. Over 150 minutes, discover celebrated galleries and sacred landmarks while spending less time waiting in ticket lines.

Your visit takes in the Raphael Rooms and Gallery of Maps before continuing to the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s ceiling commands attention. Guides cannot speak inside the chapel, so your guide will share context before you enter and accompany the group silently. From January to March 2026, restoration work on The Last Judgment may partially or fully obscure the altar wall; the chapel is expected to remain open, but no refunds are offered for restoration or scaffolding.

Continue to St. Peter’s Basilica to see Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s Baldachin. The private format gives you a dedicated guide to bring the art and history into focus, with headsets provided for groups of six or more. St. Peter’s Basilica access is included, while dome access is not. Choose this Vatican City private Vatican Museums tour for a focused introduction to some of Rome’s most remarkable art and architecture.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
