Enter the Vatican Museums before public opening, explore celebrated galleries with a private guide, and visit the Sistine Chapel in quieter hours.

About this tour

Experience Vatican City before the museums open to the public, when the galleries are quieter and masterpieces have room to breathe. With a private expert guide, explore the Vatican Museums and take in the Apollo Belvedere, Laocoön, and Belvedere Torso, along with the historic Pio Clementino Courtyard. Continue through the Galleries of Candelabra, Tapestries, and Maps, then visit the Raphael Rooms and Sistine Chapel with your group before the crowds arrive. The tour lasts 120 minutes, and the provider describes groups of 20 guests or fewer. Select the 6 am option for the Keymaster experience with the historic Vatican Museums Clavigero. Meet in front of the Vatican Museums entrance door; private transportation is not included. This early-access Vatican City Vatican Museums tour offers a more peaceful way to encounter celebrated works and richly decorated halls. Book your visit and see the museums in the stillness of the morning.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 4 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.3. Top 31% in Rome means it ranks in the top 31% of tours in Rome by this score.
