About this tour

Explore the Vatican’s celebrated art and architecture on a private, three-hour tour with an expert local guide. Reserved admission tickets help you avoid the ticket line and spend more time among the collections.

Meet your guide outside the Vatican Museums, then discover highlights that include ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, Raphael’s Rooms, and the Galleries of Tapestries and Maps. Continue to the Sistine Chapel to see Michelangelo’s renowned frescoes, and take in St. Peter’s Square. This Vatican City Vatican Museums tour brings the stories behind the masterpieces to life as you move through one of the world’s most remarkable collections.

Access to some areas, including St. Peter’s Basilica, can change at short notice because of papal events or other closures. If a planned area is unavailable, your guide will provide an alternative focused on the museums. Dress modestly, with knees and shoulders covered, and bring identification that matches your booking. Join this Vatican City Vatican Museums tour for a guided look at the art and spaces that define the Vatican.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 8 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.5. Top 22% in Rome means it ranks in the top 22% of tours in Rome by this score.
