Trace Western art from antiquity to the Baroque on a private guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Raphael’s Rooms, and Sistine Chapel.

About this tour

Follow the story of Western art through the Vatican Museums, from classical Greek and Roman works to the Renaissance and Baroque. On this 3-hour private guided tour, explore the Chiaramonti and Pio Clementino Museums, the galleries, Raphael’s Rooms, and the Sistine Chapel, with a professional guide connecting the collections along the way. Skip the long entry lines and spend your time among the works rather than waiting outside. The itinerary may also include St. Peter’s Basilica and Square, but access can change: Wednesday’s Papal Audience or an unexpected closure may keep the visit within the museums and Sistine Chapel. Security screening is required for all visitors, and waits can take 20–30 minutes. Discover the Vatican’s landmark art and architecture with a guide who brings its centuries of creativity into focus. Book your Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour for a closer look at one of Rome’s most remarkable collections.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 6 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.4. Top 26% in Rome means it ranks in the top 26% of tours in Rome by this score.
