Explore the Vatican Art Gallery and Sistine Chapel with an art historian guide, skip-the-line access, and a visit to St. Peter’s Square.

About this tour

See more of the Vatican’s celebrated art on this extended, fast-access tour with an English-speaking guide. Over five hours, explore the Vatican Art Gallery and its remarkable collections, then visit the Sistine Chapel to take in its renowned artworks. The tour also includes St. Peter’s Square, offering time to appreciate the setting beyond the museum galleries.

A professional art historian guide brings context to the works and helps you make the most of your visit, while guaranteed skip-the-line access avoids the long queues. The tour is private, giving your group a guided experience through these major Vatican highlights. Please note that St. Peter’s Basilica is excluded, and Jubilee restrictions currently prevent access to it. Last-minute closures can also affect the route; if areas close, your guide will offer an alternative focused on the Vatican Museums.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 13 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.8. Top 17% in Rome means it ranks in the top 17% of tours in Rome by this score.
