Explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with a certified guide, then visit St Peter’s Basilica when access is available.

About this tour

Explore the Vatican’s artistic treasures on a guided visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, with a chance to continue to St Peter’s Basilica when access is available. A certified guide brings the collections and their stories to life, while a skip-the-line ticket helps you make the most of your time inside the museums.

The 3-hour experience meets at 91 Viale Vaticano, by the bus stop along the Vatican walls. From there, follow your guide through the Vatican Museums and into the Sistine Chapel. The tour ends in front of St Peter’s Basilica. Entry to the basilica depends on availability and can be restricted or closed for religious ceremonies, papal events, or Vatican regulations. If access is unavailable, your guide will extend the museum visit instead. You may remain inside the basilica after the tour, but cannot return to the museums or Sistine Chapel.

Dress modestly, with knees and shoulders covered, and bring a compact foldable umbrella if rain is forecast. Join this Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica guided tour for an expert-led introduction to some of Rome’s most remarkable sights.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 6 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.4. Top 26% in Rome means it ranks in the top 26% of tours in Rome by this score.
