Explore Vatican masterpieces with a licensed guide, from the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica via an exclusive shortcut.

About this tour

Explore centuries of papal art on a guided Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica tour. In the Vatican Museums, encounter celebrated Roman sculptures, including the Laocoön Group and Belvedere Torso, then follow galleries lined with tapestries, maps, frescoes, and mosaics. Your licensed guide brings the collections into focus as you make your way toward the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s ceiling and The Last Judgment fill the walls and vault overhead.

An exclusive shortcut connects the Sistine Chapel with St. Peter’s Basilica, where you can admire Michelangelo’s Pietà and other treasures. The Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica tour lasts about three hours and is led in English. The shortcut is included, but admission tickets and St. Peter’s Basilica entrance fees are not; the provider lists tickets at EUR 55 per adult. Meet your guide in front of TMark Hotel Vaticano, and note that the start time may shift by an hour depending on availability.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 20 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.0. Top 13% in Rome means it ranks in the top 13% of tours in Rome by this score.
