About this tour

Walk a hidden route through Vatican history on this Vatican Passetto di Borgo and Castel Sant’Angelo tour. The Passetto is an elevated passage connecting the Vatican with Castel Sant’Angelo, once used by popes seeking refuge in times of danger. With a professional guide, follow the corridor and hear the stories behind this remarkable link between two historic sites. After the guided Passetto visit, use your reserved entrance to explore Castel Sant’Angelo independently. Wander through its ancient chambers and spiraling ramps, then take in views of the Tiber and St. Peter’s Basilica from the rooftop. The 120-minute experience also includes meeting-point assistance and the Ancient Rome Multimedia Video. Meet the staff at the entrance, identifiable by a red T-shirt and orange umbrella. Castel Sant’Angelo is not guided, giving you time to explore at your own pace. How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 5 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.4. Top 28% in Rome means it ranks in the top 28% of tours in Rome by this score.
