Explore Jerome’s Wild West past with a local guide, from copper-mining fortunes to tales of Billy the Kid and Belgian Jennie.

About this tour

Step into Jerome’s colorful past on a 90-minute tour through the stories behind this former copper-mining boomtown. With a local, accredited guide, the Jerome Wild West Tour brings the town’s history to life, from its rise as one of the world’s largest copper mining towns to the characters and crimes that shaped its reputation.

Hear about the fortunes made from more than a billion dollars in precious metals, along with famous figures such as Billy the Kid and Wyatt Earp. The stories also reach the infamous murder of brothel owner Belgian Jennie and the reign of the Cuban Queen. Guides are Jerome residents and active members of the Jerome Historical Society, and the tour draws on information from the society’s archives and sessions with its archives manager. Half of the experience takes place in an air-conditioned vehicle.

Discover the people and events behind Jerome’s Wild West legend on this guided town tour.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.77 from 155 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Sedona
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.8.
