Explore Tubac’s history, landscape, and contemporary life on a 90-minute walking tour led by a local guide.

About this tour

Walk through Tubac, a historic village in Arizona’s Santa Cruz County, with a local guide who brings its layered past and present into view. Founded in 1752, Tubac is the site of the oldest European settlement in what is now Arizona, and its story reaches back to its origins as a village of the Tohono O’Odham.

Over 90 minutes, explore four themes that connect the landscape to the community. Learn about Tubac’s geography and the historical and natural resources that shaped the area, then consider how the village lives today. The walking format offers an engaging way to take in the setting and hear local perspectives along the route.

Meet in front of the Tubac Center of Arts on Plaza Road, in the heart of historic Tubac. Choose this Tubac Heritage Walking Tour for a thoughtful introduction to the village’s history, landscape, and contemporary life.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 5 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Tucson
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.4. Top 37% in Tucson means it ranks in the top 37% of tours in Tucson by this score.
