Explore the National Mall with a local guide, then use your ticket to visit the Washington Monument independently.

About this tour

Walk through the heart of the nation’s capital on a 2.5-hour Washington DC Mall walking tour, where landmark memorials reveal the people and events that shaped American history. A local guide brings their stories and symbolism to life as you explore the National Mall on foot.

Pause for photos at the memorials and hear about the resilience and valor they represent. The route concludes with an entry ticket to the Washington Monument. Inside, you can explore independently and take in views over the capital; this portion is unguided. The tour meets at the Albert Einstein Memorial and runs in all weather. Comfortable shoes and water are recommended, and large bags are not allowed. National celebrations may affect the route, with an alternative provided when needed.

Choose this Washington DC Mall walking tour for a guided introduction to the capital’s most memorable landmarks, followed by time to experience the Washington Monument at your own pace.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.98 on Viator and 4.93 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Washington DC
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.8. Top 6% in Washington DC means it ranks in the top 6% of tours in Washington DC by this score.
