Ride to the Washington Monument’s 500-foot observation level for sweeping city views, timed entry, and a digital guidebook.

About this tour

See Washington DC from above on a visit to the Washington Monument, where a timed ticket takes you past the ticketing line and up to the observation level. After showing your Recreation.gov ticket to a ranger and passing through security, ride the elevator to the top, 500 feet above the city.

Take in broad views of the U.S. Capitol, the White House, and the Lincoln and Martin Luther King memorials. A digital guidebook helps you pick out landmarks and understand the monument, the National Mall, and the capital’s design. On the elevator ride down, look for commemorative stones set into the monument’s interior walls. Washington DC Washington Monument Ticket and Guidebook offers a straightforward way to pair the city’s skyline with a closer look at its history. Reserve your timed entry and see the capital from a new perspective.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 3.00 on Viator and 4.79 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Washington DC
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.8. Top 20% in Washington DC means it ranks in the top 20% of tours in Washington DC by this score.
