Explore Bend’s ancient lava tubes with a naturalist guide, headlamp, and round-trip transport on this three-hour underground adventure.
About this tour
Beneath Bend’s volcanic landscape lies a quiet world shaped by ancient lava. On this Bend Lava Tube Cave Tour, follow a naturalist guide underground to explore a wild cave far from daylight and city noise.
Your adventure begins at the tour office, where you’ll board an air-conditioned van for the ride to the cave. Once there, your guide provides a helmet and headlamp before leading you through the lava tube and sharing insights into the region’s geology. There is no paved path or installed lighting, so your headlamp reveals the way across the cave’s mostly flat but sometimes uneven floor. The cave stays at 45°F year-round, and the entrance requires stepping through a gate with about 14.5 inches of clearance. Round-trip transportation and an award-winning naturalist guide are included.
Choose this Bend Lava Tube Cave Tour for a close-up look at the forces that shaped Central Oregon. Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and warm layers, then get ready to see a remarkable side of Bend few visitors experience.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 2 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Bend
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.2.
