Paddle Class III to V rapids through the Royal Gorge, pass beneath its famous bridge, and pause for a riverside picnic lunch.
About this tour
Take on Colorado whitewater in Cañon City, where the Arkansas River cuts through the dramatic walls of the Royal Gorge. This full-day Cañon City whitewater rafting tour pairs powerful rapids with striking canyon scenery and a riverside lunch.
Meet your guide at the office, get fitted with rafting gear, and review safety instructions before a short drive to the river. The morning begins with Class III rapids, giving your crew a chance to learn paddling techniques and commands. After about 10 miles, pause for a picnic lunch beside the river.
Then the pace builds. Paddle through steep, technical drops and near-continuous whitewater, including rapids such as Sledgehammer, Wall Slammer, the Narrows, Boat Eater, and Sunshine Falls. The river plunges about 65 feet per mile through the gorge, and the route passes beneath the famous Royal Gorge Bridge. A professional guide leads the trip, and a helmet, life vest, wetsuit, and splash jacket are provided. After the run, a short drive returns you to the meeting point. Choose this Cañon City whitewater rafting tour for a demanding day on the river, with big rapids, canyon views, and lunch along the way.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. GetYourGuide rates it 4.82 from 17 reviews. We place that rating among all GetYourGuide ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Cañon City
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.7.
