About this tour

Take in La Jolla’s Pacific coastline on a self-guided audio walk, where sea caves, rugged cliffs, and lively seal colonies set the scene. This La Jolla Coast and Cove audio walking tour pairs GPS-triggered narration with the freedom to explore at your own pace.

Follow the scenic Coast Walk Trail and enjoy sweeping views of La Jolla Shores, Scripps Pier, and distant Torrey Pines. Hear the story of Sunny Jim and the staircase hidden beneath the coast, then continue toward La Jolla Cove, where cormorants, seals, and sea lions gather along the rocks. The route also visits the Children’s Pool and shares the legacy of Ellen Browning Scripps before leading into the village, past galleries, local landmarks, and places to eat.

Use the interactive map and downloaded audio to navigate without cell service. Start whenever you like, pause for a closer look, or linger at a viewpoint; the tour has no expiration. How this score is calculated

This tour scores 3.60 on Viator and 4.65 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in La Jolla
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.7.
