Explore Maui with six flexible driving tours, from the Road to Hana to Haleakalā, with offline maps and GPS-triggered audio.

About this tour

Explore Maui on your own terms with six self-guided driving tours that bring the island’s coastlines, volcanic heights, and winding roads to life. From the famous Road to Hana to the West Maui Coastline, Maui self-guided driving tours pair GPS directions with stories, local tips, and music that play automatically as you drive.

Choose from Classic, Loop, and Reverse routes to Hana, or head to Haleakalā for sunrise or sunset and stargazing. Along the way, stop for waterfalls, black sand beaches, photos, short hikes, or a bite at a food stand. There’s no fixed schedule: pause, skip stops, and resume when you’re ready. Offline maps mean you don’t need continuous Wi-Fi or data, and the tours never expire. One purchase covers the whole vehicle, making it easy for your group to explore together.

Download the tours in the Shaka Guide app before you set out, then follow the GPS prompts from your chosen starting point. Pick your route and discover Maui at your own pace with Maui self-guided driving tours.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.64 from 84 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Maui
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.2.
