Explore Maui’s Road to Hana in a private vehicle, choosing your stops while a local guide shares island stories and scenery.

About this tour

Take the Road to Hana at your own pace on a private Maui Road to Hana Rainforest and Waterfall Tour. In a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, follow the island’s winding highway through lush rainforest, past waterfalls and over narrow one-lane bridges. A local guide shares stories of Hawaiian history, legends, and culture along the way.

This private journey is customizable: choose which recommended stops to visit, change their order, and decide how long to stay. Weather permitting, you can swim or hike at selected stops. Pickup and drop-off are available from Maui hotels, resorts, and vacation rentals, and park or attraction tickets are provided. Choose an SUV for smaller groups or a van for larger parties, with capacity up to 12 passengers.

Lunch is not included, so bring cash for roadside food vendors. Pack comfortable shoes and a swimsuit if you plan to swim, then settle in and let your guide handle the winding drive. Make your Maui Road to Hana Rainforest and Waterfall Tour your own, one scenic stop at a time.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 5.00 on Viator and 5.00 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Maui
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.2. Top 23% in Maui means it ranks in the top 23% of tours in Maui by this score.
