Explore Newport’s colonial streets, Ocean Drive, and Gilded Age mansions on a narrated private tour for up to five guests.

About this tour

Discover Newport’s layered history on a private ride through colonial streets and along the Rhode Island coast. This 90-minute Newport Historic Highlights Tour gives your group of up to five a narrated look at the city without the crowds of a large bus tour.

See homes dating to the 17th and 18th centuries in the colonial district, then follow the scenic 10-mile Ocean Drive for sweeping coastal views. Stop at a picturesque state park for photos before passing Bellevue Avenue and Millionaires Row, where Gilded Age families built their summer mansions. The private format offers a comfortable way to take in Newport’s landmarks at a relaxed pace.

Want to step inside one of the mansions? Admission is available for an additional fee, and one visit can be added to your outing. Allow about an extra hour; your guide will wait while you explore and then continue the tour. Request tickets when booking. Choose this Newport Historic Highlights Tour for an engaging introduction to the city’s history and shoreline.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. GetYourGuide rates it 5.00 from 8 reviews. We place that rating among all GetYourGuide ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Miami
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.5. Top 21% in Miami means it ranks in the top 21% of tours in Miami by this score.
