Explore San Francisco’s Sutro Baths ruins, walk above the Pacific, and hear the story of a grand Victorian swimming complex.
About this tour
Discover San Francisco’s coastal past on a guided walk through the atmospheric ruins of Sutro Baths. Perched above the Pacific, this remarkable site was once a vast Victorian swimming complex, crowned by a 10,000-pane glass palace that could welcome 10,000 swimmers at a time.
As you explore the concrete foundations and promenade walls, an expert storyteller brings the Gilded Age landmark back to life. Venture through a sea cave cut into the cliffs and hear how ocean tides once supplied seven enormous pools. The 90-minute walk pairs dramatic coastal scenery with the history and engineering behind one of San Francisco’s most memorable ruins. A Pintours App is included, and the tour meets at the main entrance of the Sutro Baths.
Choose this San Francisco Sutro Baths Walking Tour to trade busy city streets for ocean views and stories etched into the shoreline. Come ready to explore a fascinating chapter of the city’s history.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 1.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in San Francisco
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.0.
