Explore Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Highway, and Custer State Park on a small-group Black Hills day tour.
About this tour
Explore the Black Hills on a day-long journey through South Dakota's celebrated landmarks and landscapes. Visit Mount Rushmore, known as America's Shrine to Democracy, and see the ongoing work at Crazy Horse Memorial, the largest mountain sculpture in progress. Then follow the dramatic curves of Needles Highway, where striking rock formations and sweeping views make the drive a highlight in its own right.
Continue into Custer State Park, a wildlife-rich landscape where you may spot bison, deer, and other animals. The tour also stops at the historic Custer State Game Lodge, where you can choose a buffet or order from the menu; meals are not included. Entrance fees are covered, and groups of 12 or fewer offer a more personal way to experience the region. Local accommodation pickup and drop-off are described among the tour details.
Discover the history, monumental art, and open scenery that define the Black Hills on this Black Hills Discovery Tour.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 3 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Rapid City
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.3.
